It’s hard to believe that nearly two years have passed since Jeff’s passing. Recently, I’ve been watching his performances and listening to his music more than ever.
I once heard someone say—though I can’t recall who it was—”There are only two types of rock guitarists, Jeff Beck and everyone else.” That statement perfectly captures the essence of who he was—truly one of a kind.
I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to participate in this event celebrating Jeff, alongside the incredible Char, whom I greatly respect, and my long-time friend Hotei. Sharing the stage with such outstanding players is a privilege I hold close to my heart.

ABOUT JEFF BECK
Jeff Beck (born Geoffrey Arnold Beck, June 24, 1944 – January 10, 2023, aged 78) was a legendary British guitarist, regarded as one of the greatest guitarists in history. Alongside Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, he was celebrated as one of the ‘Big Three’ guitarists, and even posthumously, he remains an iconic figure revered by guitarists worldwide.
Born in Wellington, England, on June 24, 1944, he joined The Yardbirds in 1965 as Eric Clapton’s successor. His guitar-smashing scene in the film Blow-Up became iconic. After departing from The Yardbirds, he formed the Jeff Beck Group in 1967 with Rod Stewart. He also recorded studio and live albums with B.B.A. (Beck, Bogert & Appice) before embarking on a solo career in 1975, releasing landmark instrumental albums such as Blow by Blow and Wired, both produced by George Martin and delivered more than 25 albums for Epic and Warner/Rhino throughout his solo career including his last studio album titled “18” which also featured Johnny Depp. .
Through his career, his innovative technique expanded the expressive potential of the guitar to new heights, earning him admiration not only from fans but from countless guitarists worldwide. He became a solitary innovator in rock guitar. Nominated 17 times for a Grammy, he won eight, beginning with ‘Escape’ from Flash in 1985 for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. Beck was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once as a member of The Yardbirds in 1992 and again as a solo artist in 2009. He passed away suddenly on January 10, 2023, at the age of 78.
